Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in communication with the league office.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team selected in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
